Unity in the Pines Celebrates Earth
Unity in the Pines will be honoring our planet in the weeks leading up to “Earth Day”, which
this year falls on Sunday, April 22nd. There are several ways you can
get involved, according to what’s possible for you:
•On Easter Sunday, April
8th, bring a small plant to services. Note: We are not in want of Lilies. The plants you bring in will grace our altar for the
Easter service and subsequently be planted outside, either in our atrium or elsewhere on the church grounds.
Lilies do not do well in the Florida climate, and we want your plants to live and flourish and grace our
church for years to come. Self-caring plants such as Frangipani, Crotons and or Hibiscus are the best
• On Tuesday, April 17th, bring a tree to church for us to plant on the church grounds. Unity
in the Pines will match all donated trees, one for one. If you are able to donate a tree but unable to bring
it in on Tuesday, please call Patrick Callahan at the church office to make arrangements to bring it at some
other time. If you have additional outdoor plants you want to
bring in, besides what you may have brought for Easter, those are welcome too, though please note that the
tree-matching program does not apply to plants as well.
• On Saturday, April 21st, we will have a church clean-up, which will include finding
permanent outdoor homes at the church for all the plants that were brought in for Easter Sunday and all the
trees that were donated as well. Join us as we clean up, inside and outside, and/or help us put plants in the
ground. The time to come together for this event is 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
• On Sunday, April 22nd, Earth Day, we will announce the tree donors and have a Native
American blessing ceremony in the atrium for all our new greenery.
Welcome springtime and honor Mother Earth with Unity in the Pines.
